FEIGN: coming soon fromNew Michigan Press

It's here and it's pretty, and the paper is to die for, all lineny and this lovely creme on the outside, dark green on the inside. Again, it's always surreal to see the book, which poems now face one another, how they work together. Dead smack at the center fold is "the book of red," the longest piece in the chap (5 pages--rare for me). Couldn't have worked better if I planned it that way..

It will be officially on sale at NMP on January 30th.

'I think I was just thinking of two girls making a cake with sinister undertones of domesticity, but it's cool to think about the whole thing as unnatural, demonic somehow.... '

It can be both. Domesticity can be pretty darn sinister too, after all.

And suddenly I'm envisioning a girl brandishing a shiny knitting needle, w/ a creepy gleam in her eye.

Wait, maybe that's a hat pin. Oh my!

I could be wrong, but I seem to have this vague recollection of some kind of superstitious ritual that made use of an egg to predict the gender of a pregnant woman's child? I may have to research this.

Again, I must say that book cover is quite exciting.

Thank you all! I think Tuesday I will make some signed ones available on etsy for anyone who wants, or if someone would like to trade something, that works too, just e-mail me at wickedpen74 (at) yahoo...
Yes and there's also one (non egg related) about placing a ring on a chain and holding it until it starts moving by itself--and if it moves back & forth vertically, then you're pregnant w/ one gender; if it moves back & forth horizontally, you're pregnant w/ the other.

But what if you're pregnant with twins--one of each sex?

I have a poem in my ms about that type of ring divination!
