Often I don't even listen to the people in my workshops because they're all doing such different types of writing than what I'm doing. There are about four people I listen to.

One week all 11 of us hated a poem a girl had submitted, and our prof *loved* it, said the poem was publishable.Ashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16406690953626117858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11262289.post-30675396418925179902007-03-22T23:17:00.000-07:002007-03-22T23:17:00.000-07:00Good call on how workshops ought to work versus ho...Good call on how workshops ought to work versus how they actually do. When I'm in a serious workshop, I try to herd discussions toward what/how/why a poem is doing what it's doing rather than the "nice images/I'd change this line" approach. Of course, I often faily spectacularly.

Our revising processes and reasons for getting an MFA sound pretty similar too.Steven D. I'm still trying to work my head around what a poetry class actually is... since poetry is art and sometimes defies classification. Thanks.

-PurpleCarPurpleCarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17461102532876375940noreply@blogger.com
